New technology will make defense archives accessible

DARPA has awarded BAE Systems a contract to develop and demonstrate technology for the Video and Image Retrieval and Analysis Tool program.

BAE Systems Inc. will develop technology that will enable Defense Department analysts to quickly find video and images stored in archives.

Under the $7.2 million contract, BAE Systems will develop and demonstrate technology for the Video and Image Retrieval and Analysis Tool program, the Defense Department said Sept. 19. The purpose of the program is to provide analysts with the ability to rapidly locate video content from archives and provide alerts to analysts during operations.

The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency awarded the contract. Most of the work will be done in Burlington, Mass.
