C4ISR Contract Watch: Navy awards contracts for F/A-18 computers, CEC production
The Navy issues two contract awards, to General Dynamics and Raytheon business units.
The Navy has awarded General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems a $45,429,181 modification to a previously awarded firm fixed-price contract for the full rate production of 195 Type 3 Advanced Mission Computers (AMCs) for integration into the F/A-18E/F and E/A-18G aircraft. The Navy will receive 166 of the systems, and 29 will go to Australia through the Foreign Military Sales Program.
The AMC is a ruggedized, high-performance, high-reliability mission and display-processing system built with a commercial open systems architecture and can be configured for any operating environment. It performs general purpose, input/output, video, voice and graphics processing and is designed to operate reliably in the extreme environment that high-performance fighter aircraft experience.
In another command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance contract announced today by the Navy, Raytheon Network Centric Systems received an award for a $25,800,618 modification to a previously awarded contract for Cooperative Engagement Capability system production. In development since 1995, CEC allows ships and aircraft to network their sensor data, providing more complete situational awareness and targeting data to warfighters.
