Contract Watch: Telos leads NETCENTS integrators in 2008 buys
Telos had more than $230 million in new sales from the Air Force’s NETCENTS program in fiscal year 2008, the most of any of the program’s eight prime contractors, the company announced Dec. 17. Telos’ claim is based on statistics compiled by the NETCENTS program office, Charisse Stokes, Telos’ NETCENTS program manager told Defense Systems.
NETCENTS, which began in 2004 and will expire in 2009, is a $9 billion multiple-award, indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity Air Force contract that provides networking equipment and systems engineering, installation, integration, operations, and maintenance to the Air Force, Defense Department and other federal agencies.
The Air Force expects to award a second NETCENTS contract in May 2009.
“Telos received several large task orders in the 2008 fiscal year which contributed to this achievement,” said Charisse Stokes, Telos’ NETCENTS program manager. “One of the largest was a wireless node order for the Army with a value of more than $50 million. There were also multiple orders for ITS [information transport system] work for the Air National Guard, and a number of wireless orders for the Air Force.”
NETCENTS has allowed Telos access to entirely new sets of customers and programs, according to Stokes. “We have grown tremendously amongst non-Air Force customers,” she said, “and this quarter we were able to move some of our Army business thru this contract vehicle. In addition, we’ve strengthened our information assurance practice across the Air Force and are providing extensive support to a variety of Air Force customers that were not initially in our portfolio.”
Telos’ most recent NETCENTS task order came earlier this month, a one-year, $13 million contract from the U.S. Army Information Technology Agency to provide support for the Defense Message System at the Pentagon Telecommunications Center.
Under the order, Telos will be integrating and operating a single, integrated Defense Message System at three security levels and will operate a DMS customer service organization.
