Air Force awards satellite system concept project

The Air Force has awarded Boeing Co. a $10.2 million contract to develop a concept for a satellite system.

The Air Force has awarded Boeing Co. a $10.2 million contract to develop a concept for a satellite system.

Under the contract, Boeing Satellite Systems Inc. will be responsible for modeling and simulation, system analysis and requirements definition, DOD announced Feb. 5.

The effort is required to establish a system architecture that will provide high-value capabilities to meet Defense Department needs, DOD said. The announcement did not elaborate on the capabilities needed or desired.

The contracting activity is Kirtland Air Force Base, N.M.

Boeing Satellite Systems, El Segundo, Calif., is a unit of Chicago-based Boeing Co.
