Army awards satellite control system work

The Army has awarded a $7.8 million contract to ITT Corp. to furnish on-site services and support for the control portion of the Defense Satellite Communications System.

Under the contract, ITT’s Systems Division will assist the Army Space and Missile Command in maintaining the DSCS Operations Control System, Wideband Gapfiller System and Commercial Satellite Network Control.

The Wideband Gapfiller System supports around-the-clock wideband services to warfighters.

The division will be responsible for on-site coverage and technical assistance, depot and supply services, logistics services and communications analysis, the Defense Department announced Feb. 3.

ITT’s Systems Division also will provide hardware maintenance, software services, database support and computer administration for equipment and organizations.

The work will be performed in Colorado Springs, Colo., over a two-year period, DOD said.
