Optical sensor to track terrorists under development
A new kind of optical sensor being designed for unmanned aerial vehicles might one day enable U.S. forces to track terrorists as they travel on foot or in ground vehicles.
A new kind of optical sensor being designed for unmanned aerial vehicles might one day enable U.S. forces to track terrorists as they travel on foot or in ground vehicles, reports Science Daily.
Scientists at the Rochester Institute of Technology are designing the sensor through a $1 million Discovery Challenge Thrust grant from the Air Force Office of Scientific Research.
The sensor, which would assess a situation and choose the best sensing mode for the purpose, will carry out its mission using information about the target as well as the background environment.
