Air Force contracts for cyber support

The Air Force has awarded Science Applications International Corp. a contract potentially worth $12 million over four years to provide network operations support.

Under the contract, SAIC will manage networks belonging to the Air Force Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) Agency, company officials said March 11.

The San Diego-based contractor will provide management and analytical support for command and control, develop and install tools and procedures for cyberdefense and cyberattack operations, and implement exploitation capabilities and functions.

The Air Force ISR agency trains and equips personnel and forces to conduct offensive and defensive operations in cyberspace. As part of that effort, the agency maintains secure and agile networks capable of responding to enemy threats and preventing enemy intrusions in cyberspace.

The work will be done primarily at Barksdale Air Force Base in Louisiana.
