Air Force orders new combat training simulator

The Air Force will get a new training system from Fidelity Technologies Corp. under a $5.3 million contract.

Under the contract, Fidelity will build and deliver a simulator that will furnish warfighters with the ability to train for terminal attack control, close air support, air traffic control and call for fire activities, company officials said March 5. Terminal attack control involves maneuvering aircraft to target and granting clearance for weapons release.

The training will emphasize coordination among forces and mission rehearsal, the officials said.

Fidelity’s product, known as the Joint Terminal Control Training and Rehearsal System, includes a large projection screen to facilitate and enhance interactive training on a variety of weapons systems and equipment.

The company, based in Reading, Pa., intends to deliver the product within 12 months.
