The systems integrators heading the Army’s Future Combat Systems program have confirmed that development of the hardware and software required for the program’s vehicles and weapons systems is proceeding as planned, reports Military and Aerospace Electronics.
Officials of Boeing Co. and Science Applications International Corp. announced last week at the Association of the U.S. Army conference in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., that they have completed Integrated Mission Test-1 of the assimilation of FCS systems and battle command software.
The January test at the FCS Common Control Node at White Sands Missile Range, N.M., caps more than two years of software development, integration and testing involving nearly every FCS integrated product team and one team partner, as well as warfighters from the Army Evaluation Task Force in Fort Bliss, Texas.
The test involved nearly 400 computers, 30 mock-ups of FCS Manned Ground Vehicles, 45 warfighters, and more than 120 industry, Army and government personnel.
