DOD announces new nominations

The Defense Department announced the nominations of Michael Brown and Janice Hamby to rear admiral. DOD also announced that Rear Adm. Ann Gilbride has been appointed to be the first director of the National Maritime Intelligence Center.

Army Maj. Gen. Robert Cone has been assigned as special assistant to the commanding general of the Army Training and Doctrine Command at Fort Monroe, Va. He previously was commanding general of the Combined Security Transition Command-Afghanistan at Central Command.

Rear Adm. (lower half) Michael Brown has been nominated to the rank of rear admiral. He is acting assistant secretary of the Homeland Security Department's Cyber Security and Communications, National Protection, and Programs Directorate and assistant deputy director of the Office of the Director of National Intelligence's Joint Interagency Cyber Task Force. For DHS, Brown plays a primary role in helping establish the strategic direction for the department and its components. For the Navy, Brown has led information operations and cyberspace efforts.

Rear Adm. Ann Gilbride has been appointed to be the first director of the National Maritime Intelligence Center in Washington. She last served as associate director of naval intelligence for reserve affairs at the Office of the Chief of Naval Operations.

Rear Adm. (lower half) Janice Hamby has been nominated for appointment to the rank of rear admiral. She is director of command control systems for the North American Aerospace Defense Command and Northern Command at Peterson Air Force Base, Colo.

Air Force Brig. Gen. Stanley Kresge has been assigned as commander of the Air Combat Command's Air Force Warfare Center at Nellis Air Force Base, Nev. He last served as director of air, space and information operations at the Headquarters Air Force Space Command at Peterson Air Force Base, Colo.
