Navy awards contract for anti-submarine training

The Navy has awarded Kratos Defense and Security Solutions Inc. an $11 million contract to assist with training forces for anti-submarine warfare (ASW).

Under the five-year contract, Kratos will furnish a wide range of support services related to engineering, technical and logistics requirements for the MK 30 system, company officials said March 12.

The MK 30 is an unmanned undersea vehicle that simulates a submarine by emitting acoustic and magnetic signatures that can be tracked by surface ship, aircraft and submarine crews participating in ASW training exercises.

Kratos will handle all aspects associated with the MK 30 system, including target handling and test and launch requirements, the officials said.  

The company will furnish the ASW services to the Naval Undersea Warfare Center division in Keyport, Wash.

Kratos, of San Diego, is a provider of engineering and information technology services for the government sector.
