Air Force award to promote modeling, simulation goals
Alion Science and Technology will provide modeling research and development to the Defense Department under a contract worth an estimated $14.4 million.
Alion Science and Technology Corp. will provide modeling research and development to the Defense Department under a cost-plus, fixed-fee contract worth an estimated $14.4 million.
The Air Force contract calls for Alion to provide modeling and simulation strategic outreach and special R&D to the director of Defense Research and Engineering and the Modeling and Simulation Coordination Office.
The contract will promote achievement of the Defense Department modeling and simulation vision and goals, an Air Force announcement said.
The Defense Department Reorganization Act of 1958 established the position of director of Defense Research and Engineering to provide the military with superior and affordable technology.
The Modeling and Simulation Coordination Office establishes standards, architectures, networks and environments to promote the sharing of tools, data and information.
Offutt Air Force Base, Neb., is the contracting activity.
