Aruba Networks' new wireless LAN solution has FIPS 140-2 security

Aruba Networks has announced that its ArubaOS Release 3 802.11n wireless LAN solution has been validated as being Federal Information Processing Standard 140-2 compliant for cryptographic security.

The validation encompasses Aruba's 200, 800, 3000 and 6000 Series Multi-Service Mobility Controllers, 802.11a/b/g/n indoor and outdoor access points, resilient mesh software, and Remote Access Point (RAP) technology.

The technology also meets the Defense Department's Directive 8100.2 and is in the process of being validated for Common Criteria Evaluation Assurance Level 4.

Both the Federal Trade Commission and the Energy Department are using the technology, according to Dave Logan, general manager of Aruba Networks Federal Business Unit. The Air Force and the Army are expected to deploy the technology in the next fiscal year, Logan added.
