PC Central offers secure data transmission for remote-desktop environments
The first deployment of the product will take place with 60 users in the military beginning in September.
Secure data transmission is a must for the military, especially when dealing with classified documents. In response to this need, M&A Technology announced at the LandWarNet 2009 conference this week a new technology to provide secure data transmission for high-density, remote-desktop environments.
Critical data is maintained and managed in the data center and end users are connected 1-to-1 through a standard network, either local-area networks or wide-area networks. The data is encrypted, compressed and transmitted over Ethernet.
“The PC is in the data center. The monitor, mouse and cable are connected to it via Ethernet,” said Jihad Jubran, vice president of business development for the company. User profiles can have full or partial accessibility to access the data, or the system can be configured not to give the user any access, i.e. “locked out.”
The solution improves the performance of the user’s PC for transmission of high-definition graphics and audio without physical access to the data center, and with or without virtualization. It has all the functionality of a regular desktop, said Jubran.
Since the data center is managed by a PC, any computer technician can support the system, said Jubran. The system, PC Central, is scalable and easy to use, he said.
The ruggedized system is based on host rendering technology from Teradici Corp. Its first deployment will be in September for 60 users in the military.
