Air National Guard selects managed services provider
Harris Corp. will provide information technology support to the Air National Guard network and regional operations and security centers under a new contract.
Harris Corp. will provide information technology support services to Air National Guard network and regional operations and security centers under a five-year, $26 million contract.
Under the contract, Harris will deliver a full range of enterprise IT system services, including applications and infrastructure support, vulnerability assessment, directory services, and boundary protection and messaging, Harris officials said Jan. 20 in an announcement.
Through the project, the Air National Guard will transition from a decentralized network management model to a centrally managed approach, the officials said. Such an approach is essential to meet the needs of a large, distributed population of users, they said.
Harris’ project team includes TechTeam Government Solutions Inc. and NetApp Inc. The team will consolidate and integrate IT operations at 11 locations across the country. The contract was awarded through the Air Force’s Network Centric Solutions program.
The Air National Guard is the Air Force component of the National Guard. It maintains a well-trained, well-equipped units capable of rapid mobilization during war and national emergencies.
The Air Force Special Operations Command has deployed secure wireless local area networks that incorporate encryption products developed by Harris. See “Air Force deploys wireless LANs for better field access.”
