Navy schedules support for ship modernization
Alion Science and Technology will provide acquisition management support to the Navy for modernization of various ships under a new contract.
Alion Science and Technology Corp.will assist the Navy with modernization programs for some ships under a five-year, $71.8 million contract to provide acquisition management support.
Under the contract, Alion will provide the Navy program management, business and financial planning, acquisition and configuration management, and enterprise resource planning implementation support, company officials said Feb. 16. The contract is with the Program Executive Office for Ships, Acquisition Management Directorate.

Alion will also help acquire and manage Government-Furnished Equipment and Government-Furnished Information for several ship classes, including the DDG 51, DDG-1000, Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) Sea Frame, Cruiser Modernization, Destroyer Modernization, LCS Mission Module program and the Egyptian Fast Missile Craft programs.
Alion, of McLean, Va., leads a team of contractors for the project including TASC, The Columbia Group, Delta Resources and Triumph Enterprises Inc.
The contract runs until December 2014.
