Two get orders for multifunctional communications terminals
Data Link Solutions Inc. and ViaSat Inc. recently received orders for Multifunctional Information Distribution System-Low Volume Terminals that will be used on Army, Air Force and Navy platforms.
Two companies recently received orders to supply the Defense Department with multifunctional low-volume terminals for secure, high-capacity voice and data communications.
Data Link Solutions Inc. and ViaSat Inc. will provide Multifunctional Information Distribution System-Low Volume Terminals that will be used on Army, Air Force and Navy platforms and will also provide the devices to allies through the Foreign Military Sales program, DOD officials announced March 11.
The terminals provide a critical ground link for simultaneous coordination of air, land and maritime forces.
The $19.9 million order awarded to Data Link Solutions also covers terminal purchases by Finland, Japan and Saudi Arabia through the FMS program. The $21.4 million order awarded to ViaSat also covers terminal purchases by Germany, Australia and South Korea through the FMS program.
Work is scheduled to be completed by February 2012. The Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command-San Diego is the contracting activity.
