DOD schedules software support for tactical radios

Boeing Co. will furnish software support for the military’s next-generation network of tactical radios under a contract potentially worth $54.9 million over five years.

Under the indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity contract, Boeing will provide enterprise network manager software support to the Joint Program Executive Office for the Joint Tactical Radio System, Defense Department officials said April 16.

Specifically, the work involves technical support and software maintenance and upgrades, according to media reports.

The goal of the JTRS program is to provide the military services with a family of software-programmable tactical radios that give soldiers voice, data and video communications through an interoperable system.

Boeing Integrated Defense Systems’ Phantom Works will do the work in Huntington Beach, Calif. The two-year contract has three option years.

The Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center Pacific in San Diego is the contracting activity.
