Air Force gets assistance with logistics upgrade

Serco Inc. will upgrade Air Force logistics information and data system operations under a Consolidated Acquisition of Professional Services contract valued at approximately $14 million over two years.
The task order will support the Air Force Materiel Command, Logistics Directorate, Depot Maintenance Division by providing analytical, technical and programmatic support for depot maintenance management oversight programs, according to a company announcement today.
Serco will support a new series of initiatives to increase the productivity of the weapon systems, shorten depot maintenance time, improve future defense program planning, enhance execution of new weapon systems depot maintenance workload, and improve legacy information and data system operations.
The goal is to reduce costs for the military and strategic planning, the statement said.
Serco has facilities in Fairborn, Ohio, near the Air Force Materiel Command headquarters at Wright Patterson Air Force Base. The company said it expects to hire an additional 20 employees to add to its growing presence in the area.
Serco is based in Reston, Va.
