Army selects contractor for network support

General Dynamics Corp. has won a four-year, $61.8 million task order to provide information technology services to the Army’s Intelligence and Security Command.

As a result, General Dynamics Information Technology will provide sustaining, uninterrupted IT operations and maintenance support that INSCOM and its subordinate units require to create and share critical intelligence products among Army users worldwide, the company announced today.

The work consists of help-desk management, networking and systems operations, network administration, and software.

The contract also calls for network maintenance, which includes equipment repair either on site or through warranty services.

GD IT will provide information assurance services to secure networks, systems and data from potential threats, as well as knowledge management solutions for INSCOM.

INSCOM, the Army’s operational intelligence force, is headquartered at Fort Belvoir, Va. It is a global command with major subordinate commands that tailor their support to the specific needs of different theaters of operation, according to the Northrop announcement.

The command synchronizes the intelligence operations of all INSCOM elements to ensure multi-discipline intelligence support to theater/component warfighters, the intelligence community and other national agencies.

Work on this contract will be conducted at Fort Belvoir and other locations including Fort Meade and Aberdeen Proving Ground, Md.; Fort Sam Houston, Fort Bliss and Camp Bullis, Texas; Fort Huachuca, Ariz.; Fort Bragg, N.C.; and Fort Leavenworth, Kan.

General Dynamics will also support U.S. Army intelligence customers with worldwide deployment, if needed.
