Army Materiel Command gets IT infrastructure boost

The award, from the National Capital Region Contracting Center, calls for Harris to provide infrastructure support for the command's newly relocated headquarters at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Ala., the company announced today.
Under the contract, Harris will engineer, furnish, install and test the command, control, communications and computer IT infrastructure, which includes audiovisual and videoconferencing equipment.
Harris will also provide operations and maintenance support and help-desk capabilities.
It is the second major military headquarters relocation contract for Harris, which is completing similar work for the U.S. Southern Command's new headquarters in Miami, the announcement states.
The latest contract was awarded under the nine-year, $20 billion IT Enterprise Solutions- 2 Services contract vehicle, the preferred method of contracting for services and supplies for the Army, Harris said.
The Harris team includes subcontractors General Dynamics IT, Audio Visual Systems Inc., Advanced Systems Development Inc., By Light Professional IT Services, MicroTech, IBM Corp. and nLogic.
Harris is headquartered in Melbourne, Fla.
