Harris Corp. has completed a demonstration project designed to show that its Falcon III AN/PRC-117G multiband manpack radio is compatible with a software application that provides network management for the Defense Department’s Joint Tactical Radio System.

Harris showed during contractor development testing that the AN/PRC-117G radio is interoperable with the JTRS Soldier Radio Waveform Network Manager, Harris officials said today. The next step is formal qualification testing for the AN/PRC-117G and SRW Network Manager.
The successful test demonstrates that the wideband AN/PRC-117G is now integrated with a key administrative element of the JTRS program, the officials said. The AN/PRC-117G, already in use by U.S. military forces, uses an open-architecture approach.
Warfighters use the network manager to generate and load mission plans and also for real-time monitoring of JTRS radio networks. The SRW will provide tactical voice, high-bandwidth data and battlefield networking connectivity to forces on the front lines.
