A unit of DRS Technologies Inc. will furnish a multi-spectral surveillance suite tailored for a light armored vehicle to the Australian Defence Department under a $30 million contract.
A unit of DRS Technologies Inc. will furnish a multi-spectral surveillance suite tailored for a light armored vehicle to the Australian Defence Department under a $30 million contract.
The surveillance system will be incorporated into the Australian Light Armored Vehicle – Surveillance variant.
Under the contract, DRS' Sustaintment Systems will produce the systems and key components, such as an integration lab, and also provide spares and logistics support.
The multi-spectral surveillance suite consists of a collection of electro-optical sensors integrated with a ground surveillance radar that is used for mounted and dismounted reconnaissance, surveillance and target acquisition operations. It gives troops day and night surveillance targeting capabilities through stabilized infrared and color day cameras and a laser rangefinder package.
The contract runs through March 2013. The Armored Fighting Vehicle Systems Program Office in Melbourne is the contracting activity.
DRS’ Sustainment Systems is based in St. Louis.
