Harris Corp., Computer Sciences Corp., General Dynamics Information Technology and Cisco Systems Inc. are teaming to pursue an anticipated five-year, Navy Department contract to provide network transport services for the Next Generation Enterprise Network (NGEN) initiative, according to a Harris announcement today.

Industry estimates say the NGEN contract, which would replace the Navy Marine Corps Intranet, could be worth almost $9 billion over 10 years.

NGEN is the latest version of the Navy's initiative to continuously evolve enterprise networks to provide secure data and services to Navy and Marine Corps personnel.

“The Harris-led team has the unified corporate strength, institutional knowledge, passion and vision to ensure a secure, operational network that will meet the evolving needs of the Department of the Navy,” Dan Pearson, Harris’ executive vice president and chief operating officer, said in the statement.

“The team’s culture and proven approach are best-suited to collaborative work -- enabling a truly integrated solution,” he said.
