Air Guard sites to get communications boost

The Air National Guard has awarded Harris Corp. a one-year, $11 million contract to upgrade communications systems used at nine locations as part of a comprehensive modernization project.

Under the contract, Harris will design, install and certify major communications subsystems and their respective infrastructure at nine initial sites, company officials said. The work will be done according to Air Force Combat Information Transport System standards.

Harris’ team includes Trans-Tel Central Inc. and McNeal Pro. The contract was awarded through the Network-Centric Solutions program.

The Air National Guard maintains units for prompt mobilization during war and defends the United States against attack. It also provides relief and assistance during natural disasters.
