Lt. Gen. Susan Lawrence, the Army’s CIO, was promoted to three-star general today.
She is the second woman serving as a three-star general on active duty and the fourth to be promoted to the rank of lieutenant general in the Army, officials said.
Gen. Peter Chiarelli, Army vice chief of staff, presided over Lawrence’s promotion ceremony at the Pentagon.
Lawrence will continue her focus on the network, which is the Army’s No. 1 modernization effort and crucial for the Army of the future, officials said.
“We want a network that can provide soldiers and civilians information of all categories and forms, as well as a means to collaborate in real time, at the exact moment required, in any environment, under all circumstances,” Lawrence said in a statement.
She said she plans to focus on culture change, consolidation, standardization and data management.
