Coast Guard receives final order of aircraft C4ISR system

Lockheed Martin Corp. has delivered the last of nine mission system pallets to the Coast Guard for use with its Medium-Range Surveillance Aircraft, company officials said March 8.

The command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (C4ISR) pallets, designed to be rolled on and off the aircraft, furnish crews with situational awareness, mission data recording, secure data encryption and other capabilities.

The C4ISR pallets give the aircraft crews the technological capabilities necessary to carry out a variety of missions, including search and rescue, drug interdiction and other national security missions. They can be removed from the aircraft to increase cargo space in the event of humanitarian relief or evacuation missions.

The Coast Guard awarded the company a $41 million contract in 2008 to deliver the pallets. The pallets will be used on aircraft based at the Coast Guard’s Air Station Miami and Aviation Training Center Mobile facilities.
