Navy to deploy Fire Scouts to Afghanistan
The Navy's Fire Scout UAVs will provide coalition forces with more eyes over the battlefield.
The Navy is deploying its robotic helicopters to support ground troops in Afghanistan, reports Christopher Cavas at Defense News.
The service plans to ship three MQ-8B Fire Scout unmanned aerial vehicles, two ground stations and support hardware. Developed for shipboard use and capable of staying aloft for eight hours, the Fire Scouts will provide coalition forces with full-motion video surveillance.
