The H-60 Black Hawk helicopter used in the May 2 raid on Osama bin Laden’s compound might have been modified with stealth technologies and materials at Sikorsky’s Hawk Works near Elmira, N.Y., reports Bill Sweetman at Aviation Week.
One possible clue to this is that the Hawk Works facilities appear to have been altered in the aerial and satellite images available from Google Earth, the news outlet said.
The Elmira complex includes a 100,000-square-foot Hawk Works facility that the company has said in the past makes modifications to “Black Hawk derivative helicopters that require customized configurations for a range of specialized missions.”
