Army to deploy new tactical generators to Afghanistan

The Army expects to save 300,000 gallons of fuel each month through its planned deployment of next-generation tactical generators to Afghanistan, the military service said in a July 21 news release.

The generators, which are being produced through the Advanced Medium Mobile Power Sources program, are scheduled to be deployed in-country beginning in November.

Tactical generators not only reap huge fuel savings, but also save soldiers’ lives by reducing the need for supply convoys which are subject to attack from roadside bombs planted by insurgents.
