Army to hold large-scale manned-unmanned air system demo

The Army will hold the largest demonstration to date of manned and unmanned aircraft systems interoperability Sept. 15 at Dugway Proving Ground, Utah, reports Aviation International News.

The Manned Unmanned Systems Integration Concept Exercise will put to the test a number of manned-unmanned teaming concepts and also new concepts and technologies for controlling unmanned aircraft systems, such as the use of a universal ground-control station to manage multiple, different UAS platforms and the ability of a soldier on the ground to steer a UAS sensor payload using the one-system, remote-video terminal.

Among the participating unmanned systems are the MQ-5 Hunter,  MQ-1C Gray Eagle and RQ-7 Shadow, and the manned systems participating include the AH-64D Block II Apache and OH-58D Kiowa helicopters.
