Navy cyber command to get new commander

The Navy’s Fleet Cyber Command/Tenth Fleet, established in January 2010, is likely to soon have a new commander: Rear Adm. Michael Rogers, whose nomination to the post along with a promotion to vice admiral was announced by the Defense Department Aug. 10.

Rogers, currently serving as intelligence director of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, will succeed Vice Adm. Barry McCullough, who is retiring Oct. 1, according to Navy spokesman Commander Steve Mavica. The nomination is subject to Senate confirmation.

Rogers is a Chicago native who has served in his current position since September 2009, according to his Navy bio.

Fleet Cyber Command/Tenth Fleet is located with the U.S. Cyber Command at Ft. Meade, Md.
