Air Force set to upgrade key operations centers
Northrop Grumman will upgrade command and control capabilities for the Air and Space Operations Center Weapon System at eight sites.
The Air Force has awarded Northrop Grumman a contract potentially worth as much as $504 million over eight years to overhaul its Air and Space Operations Center Weapon System, company officials said March 14.
The modernization program aims to substantially boost battle space awareness and planning and execution tools used by AOC WS through the installation of a network-centric system, the officials said. AOC WS is the service's command and control center for planning, executing and assessing joint air operations during conflicts.
The company will furnish design, integration, test and delivery of infrastructure and mission applications with fielding and sustainment at eight AOC sites. The Electronic Systems Center at Hanscom Air Force Base, Mass., is the contracting activity.
