Boeing completes satcom-on-the-move demo for US, Australia

Boeing recently demonstrated a satcom-on-the-move technology product on a live Ka-band satellite network for Australia and the United States, the company said June 3.

The demonstration used integrated voice, video and data communications over the increased bandwidth available on the latest generation Ka-band satellite mobile terminals, a capability that uses the company's Wideband Global Satcom system, the company said.

During the demo, high-mobility, multipurpose wheeled vehicles fitted with cameras and handheld radios connected to test labs in Australia and the United States to simultaneously combine secure videoconferencing with military radio and telephones.
