Intelsat plans major satellite fleet enhancement

Intelsat S.A. plans to enhance its satellite fleet and global terrestrial network by installing a new commercial satellite platform built on a high-performance, open-architecture design, the company announced June 7.

The company plans to deploy its EpicNG satellite platform for wireless and fixed telecommunications, enterprise, mobility, video and government applications that require broadband infrastructure across the major continents, the company said.

The Intelsat EpicNG platform uses multiple frequency bands, wide beams, spot beams and frequency reuse technology, the company said.
