Air Force steps up cyber weapons development

The Air Force has issued a request for proposals valued at $10 million for assistance with short programs of 3 to 12 months for assistance developing malware to use against possible adversaries, reports Wired's Danger Room blog.
 
The effort is part of the service's plan to build out its Cyberspace Warfare Operations Capabilities, the story said. Ultimately, the service wants to make cyber weapons available to top brass and operational commanders.

The Air Force also plans to use cyber weapons on the eve of a battle so as to leave "the adversary entering conflicts in a degraded state,” according to the solicitation.
