Collaboration key to network success, say military leaders

Military leaders attending the GEOINT 2012 Symposium this week emphasized that collaboration with industry, allies and among themselves are the key to building and securing networks for modern warfare.

“That is the environment that we’re going to be working in,” said Lt. Gen. Larry James, the Air Force’s deputy chief of staff for intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance. He spoke Oct. 11 in a panel discussion with MG Steve Fogarty, commander of U.S. Army Intelligence and Security Command, RADM Sandy Daniels, senior adviser for space to the deputy chief of naval operations for information dominance and Philip Chudoba, assistant director of intelligence for the Marine Corps.

Daniels said the Navy is actively seeking new ideas from industry, educational institutions and other government agencies to solve issues such as bandwidth limitations for forward-deployed ships.
