Raytheon to deliver thermal weapon sights to Army

The Army has selected Raytheon to furnish thermal weapon sights through a contract modification potentially worth up to $131 million over three years, company officials said Oct. 21.

Raytheon may be called on to supply as many as 24,000 sights through the agreement, the officials said.

The lightweight thermal weapon sights improve targeting and surveillance capabilities by enabling soldiers to spot targets at long distances through haze, dust, fog and other obscurants, they said.

The sights will be built at Raytheon's Network Centric Systems facility in McKinney, Texas.
