Army picks 20 to compete for $10B in tactical comms work

The Army has awarded contracts to 20 companies to compete for up to $10 billion in task orders over a five-year period under its massive Global Tactical Advanced Communications Systems (GTACS) acquisition program, the service announced on the Federal Business Opportunities website. 

The winners of the indefinite-delivering, indefinite-quantity contracts will furnish tactical communications products and related services to the Army's Program Executive Office for Command, Communications and Control - Tactical (PEO C3T), the announcement said.

“The initial task orders from this contract are expected to be released in 2013 and will fall under the three key task areas of development, production and deployment, and sustainment,” said Bob Durbin, acting vice president and general manager of the Exelis Communications and Force Protection Systems business area.
