Harris to continue working on Air Force satellite network

The Air Force has awarded a fifth option year valued at $66 million on its Network and Space Operations and Maintenance (NSOM) contract to Harris, the company said Dec. 20.

Under the NSOM contract, Harris operates, maintains and logistically supports the Air Force Space Command's 50th Space Wing in its mission managing inbound and outbound data and communications with Defense Department satellites. Harris' services include furnishing operations and maintenance support to the Air Force Satellite Control Networks equipment at 10 locations worldwide.
 
The one-year, $66 million option brings the overall value of the program to Harris to date to $351 million. The total potential value of the six-and-a-half year contract is $418 million.

The Harris team includes ASRC Aerospace, Arctic Slope World Services, Avaya Government Solutions, Faith Enterprises Incorporated, Gunther Douglas and Lockheed Martin Information Technology.
