ViaSat gets Navy order for communications terminals

ViaSat has received a $12.7 million delivery order from the Navy to furnish terminals that will enable high-capacity digital data and voice communications capabalities for military platforms used by all of the branches of the U.S. military, the Defense Department said Dec. 18.

Under the delivery order, the Carlsbad, Calif.-based company will furnish secure, jam-resistant Multifunctional Information Distribution System-Low Volume Terminals (MIDS-LVTs) to U.S. military forces and two allies.

The delivery order combines purchases for U.S. military forces, Oman (through the Foreign Military Sales Program) and Germany (under the MIDS program memorandum of understanding).  The orders and related work will be completed by July 31, 2014.  

The Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command, San Diego, Calif., is the contracting activity.
