The Army's research arm has issued an RFI seeking information from industry and academia about emerging and possible future cyber techologies that the service will use to craft cyber strategy and technology investment plans for the next several decades.
The Army Research Development and Engineering Command (RDECOM) wants information about advances in wired and wireless communications, computing hardware and software, Internet application and usage related to Web 3.0, and human/machine interface, according to a Feb. 11 FedBizOpps notice.
RDECOM also seeks information on advances related to robotics and automation, artificial intelligence and machine learning, consumer electronics and available personal technologies, large-scale data processing and analytics, and global cyberspace infrastructures and architectures, the notice said.
In the realm of cyber activity, RDECOM wants information on cloud computing and what will follow afterwards, as well as next-generation networks, the notice said.
The feedback that the Army receives from the RFI will enable it to gain a better awareness of promising research efforts that have the potential to influence the future cyber landscape. It also will improve its understanding of emerging technologies that might generate paradigm shifts in the technological landscape and hone its understanding of the way humans and machines will interact with cyberspace.
