Harris, AIS team to furnish satcom services to intel agency

Harris CapRock and AIS have teamed to furnish a customer in the intelligence community with satellite services through a Custom Satellite Solutions Small Business task order, the company said Feb. 12.

Harris CapRock Communications and AIS Engineering have teamed on a project worth a minimum of $10 million over five years to furnish a customer in the intelligence community with satellite services through a Custom Satellite Solutions Small Business (CS2-SB) task order, the company said Feb. 12.

Under the agreement, the companies will provide the customer with U.S. satellite, teleport, terrestrial and engineering services, Harris said. The technology services will give the customer multiple options to procure the same custom end-to-end communications solutions globally.

The agreement provides for one base year and four option years, Harris said. The company has supported this particular intelligence community customer for more than a decade.

CS2 is part of the Future Commercial SATCOM Acquisition (FCSA) program, which is managed by the General Services Administration in partnership with the Defense Information Systems Agency. Harris CapRock is an approved vendor on other elements of the FCSA program — transponded capacity and subscription services — which are managed through the GSA Federal Supply Schedule 70 vehicle.

Harris CapRock, of Hanover, Md., is a provider of managed satellite and terrestrial communications solutions specifically for remote and harsh environments.

AIS Engineering, of Silver Springs, Md., is a provider of turn-key satellite communications services. It is one of four companies awarded the CS2-SB contract, according to the company's website.
