Navy wants a new electronic procurement system

The Navy has issued a request for information (RFI) for an electronic procurement system (EPS) to replace the contract writing capabilities of the legacy Defense Department Standard Procurement System. Responses are due March 19.

Among the many requirements for the EPS are the ability to include multiple tasks in each workflow, evaluate a single proposal submitted by multiple parties, initiate clarifications and further communications, and alert users regarding critical timeframes during the contract closeout process, according to the RFI.

The EPS also should provide end-to-end processing of goods and services, integrate with other financial management systems, and perform audits on work products, the RFI stated.

The information gathered through the RFI process will influence future EPS product investments made by the Navy, the announcement said.

The Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Acquisition and Logistics issued the RFI.
