Cubic to develop courseware for Navy's Littoral Combat Ships program

Cubic has won three  contracts from the Navy potentially worth a total of $298.5 million over five years to develop instructor-led and instructor-facilitated self-paced courseware that will enable sailors to get accredited for duty on Littoral Combat Ships, the company said March 4.

Under the three indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity contracts, Cubic's Simulation Systems Division will deliver what is known as synchronous and asynchronous courseware in support of the Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) Train to Qualify and Train to Certify shore-based training requirements for both variants of the Littoral Combat Ship, as well as for the Mission Packages used on both ships, the company said.

The LCS program represents the Navy’s most advanced designs, capabilities and technologies to create the next generation of surface vessels that can operate in dangerous shallow and near-shore environments. The Naval Air Warfare Center Training Systems Division awarded the contracts.
 
Cubic will create the courseware for the LCS program in Orlando, Fla. Cubic’s Simulation Systems will partner with Cubic Mission Support Services, and a team of subcontractors including Austal USA, Alion Science and Technology, Sonalysts,  Aptima, Cybernet Systems, RealTime Immersive, and a host of other small and economically disadvantaged businesses, to deliver the interactive courseware products.
