DARPA targets simulation capabilities for battle nets

The Defense Department’s research arm is seeking information on modeling and simulation capabilities to be used to assess various systems, including communications, networking and electronic warfare.

The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency’s Strategic Technology Office released a Request for Information on June 27 covering submarines, ships and aircraft as well as “contested environments” that include physical attacks on weapon platforms and the electronic jamming of platform systems.

The DARPA office said it was “primarily interested in existing analytical capabilities and not the development of new capabilities.”

The request seeks information on modeling and simulation capabilities for: battle management/command and control; comms and networking; intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance; electronic warfare; as well as position, navigation and timing, DARPA said.
