HP prevails in NGEN protest

The U.S. Government Accountability Office denied a protest by Harris Corp. on a huge Navy contract award to Hewlett-Packard, clearing the way for HP to deliver the $3.5 billion Next Generation Enterprise Network, reports Nick Wakeman of sister publication Washington Technology.

Computer Sciences Corp. also protested the contract award to HP, but withdrew its protect in August. GAO denied the remaining protest by Harris on Oct. 31. Harris cited pricing as one reason for the loss.

Under the five-year follow-on contract, HP will convert the Navy and Marine Corps Intranet into a government-owned and operated network with an estimated 800,000 users.

HP’s team includes AT&T, IBM, Lockheed Martin and Northrop Grumman.
