Navy building one system for all records, task management
The DON TRACKER will eliminate duplication for shore-based commands.
The Department of the Navy is building a prototype task and records management system for all of its shore-based commands, eliminating the duplication of having multiple systems.
Called the DON Tasking, Records, and Consolidated Knowledge Enterprise Repository, or DON TRACKER, the system will supply a single auditable and compliant task management and records management system, which will reduce network complexity and cut costs, according to a memo from DON CIO Terry Halvorsen.
The Navy expects to begin deploying DON TRACKER in spring 2015. The Program Executive Office for Enterprise Information Systems Sea Warrior Program is leading the development of the system.
In the meantime, the memo says, no DON investments will be made in any new records or task management systems, nor will current systems be upgraded without approval.
