Army cyber training center to get new commander

The Army has named a new commanding general for its Cyber Center of Excellence at Fort Gordon, Ga., home to the service’s expanding Cyber Command.

Maj. Gen. Stephen Fogarty will take command in September from Maj. Gen. LaWarren Patterson, who will move to the Army's Installation Management Command, Joint Base San Antonio, as deputy commanding general for operations and chief of staff, Sean Lyngaas reports for FCW.

Fogarty, who most recently served as commanding general of the Intelligence and Security Command at Fort Belvoir, Va., is set to take over Sept. 8, according to the Augusta Chronicle.

The Army announced in December that it would consolidate its Cyber Command at Fort Gordon, with plans to add 660 uniformed and civilian personnel. The Cyber Center of Excellence is charged with education and training of the command’s signal, cyber and electronic warfare professionals, along with developing doctrine and other organizational materials.
