DISA awards $74M task order for Acropolis cyber program

The Defense Information Systems Agency has awarded Northrop Grumman a task order worth up to $74 million to continue support DISA’s Acropolis analytic cloud, which provides cybersecurity and situational awareness to Defense Department networks.

Under the four-year deal, awarded under the Encore II Information Technology Solutions indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contract, Northrop  will provide defensive cyber operations and a global cyber situational awareness in order to protect the DOD Joint Information Environment, DOD Enterprise Services, and the DOD Information Network, the company said in a release. The contract also covers operation of the DODIN-wide Computer Network Defense sensor infrastructure.

Formerly known as the Centaur program, Acropolis will continue to try and ensure secure operations and defense across the department. DISA announced Acropolis last summer, saying at the time that its goals included being able to make use of DOD’s troves of big data in addition to providing security. Among other things, Acropolis is intended to provide a global view of traffic on DOD’s non-classified NIPRNet and classified SIPRNet.

DISA officials also said they expected to work with the National Security Agency—their neighbors at Fort Meade, Md.—in developing the program.

"The DISA Acropolis mission is critical to national security," Shawn Purvis, vice president and general manager of Northrop’s cyber division, said in the company y’s release. "This massive global network must operate 24/7, be resilient and ready to identify and eliminate formidable threats.”
